New York author Meg Wolitzer’s ninth novel, The Interestings, which follows six friends from adolescence through to middle age, has been widely praised as ‘marvellously inventive’ and ‘enormously entertaining’, and compared to the work of those other chroniclers of American life, Jonathan Franzen and Jeffrey Eugenides.

As always, her sharp observation of the contemporary world, humour and immensely readable prose are to the fore. Meg Wolitzer talks with Kate de Goldi about The Interestings, and about her earlier work.
