As an award-winning foreign correspondent with the Guardian, Luke Harding has been on the front line of wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria and, most recently, reported from Ukraine.
He was once the newspaper’s bureau chief in Moscow until Russia expelled him, an experience he describes in Mafia State: How one reporter became the enemy of the brutal new Russia. His latest book, The Snowden Files, recounts the extraordinary drama and impact of the global spying revelations from National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden, and has recently been snapped up by Oliver Stone for film adaptation. Topical and important, this session on international politics is not to be missed. Chaired by fellow journalist Toby Manhire.
